Spring Beauty Haul & Review 2015

Hi Fabs,

Got some some beauty items I picked up recently here on the blog today. I know you've seen several of these products all over your favorite social networks, so here are my thoughts.

I got all these items on sale at Drugstore.com. It came a day after I ordered it, so that was great. I planned to go my local drugstore with some coupons I had but I found that they were cheaper online. I've been wanting to try to the Simple Cleansing Micellar Water for a while, so I was excited to get it. I went to a yacht party on Saturday night (pinkies up! lol), and had on a good amount of makeup and used the cleansing water to remove my makeup. It did a pretty good job removing the makeup, however, I felt I had use a lot of the product. I literally had to soak my cotton pad several times to get my makeup off. Also, it barely took off my eye makeup. I had to call for reinforcement, my tried and true Neutrogena Eye Makeup remover. What I did like after using the cleansing water was my skin felt so good and fresh after, and it did not irritate my skin like some makeup removers do (especially certain brand's makeup wipes).

My skin tends to be oily in certain spots and when the Spring and Summer come around, who likes heavy moisturizers?! I like the Simple Ultra-Light Gel Moisturizer for that purpose, it's super light but also hydrating. So where my skin is not oily, its dry, lucky me! I picked up the Pond's Dry Skin Cream for those dry patches. It's not super greasy, because I mentioned earlier "me no likey" thick creams in the warmer weather.

I like simple makeup in Spring and Summer. My routine consists tinted moisturizer, bronzer, a little eyeliner and a good lip. I'm obsessed with this Milani Eye Tech Liquid Liner. It has a fine felt-tip point which makes it easy to apply. I am far from a winged eye liner master but with this I might become one soon. Watch out, @amrezy. (Dont worry, I will not get to your level ever! Lol) After researching Instagram, I decided to get Milani Statement Color Lipstick in Violet Volt.  I liked the creamy application but the color was kinda off from what I wanted. I wanted a little more purple shade. I can't resist Milani packaging, I love the gold, feels so fancy. Anyone else can't resist pretty packaging???

Any beauty goodies you pick up lately? Share!

Before You Sign Up to be Bridesmaid

Hi Fabs,

We all know wedding season is steadily approaching and you may or may not be apart of the wedding party, but here's a few (not so nice) things you should know before you sign up!

1. It's expensive. The dress, shoes, hair makeup, going to all events and gifts. It all adds up. According to this article by ABC news, the average cost of being a bridesmaid in 2015 is around $1,500-1,800. Yikes, that's one months rent.

2. Bride Choices. The Bride may want you to wear a hideous dress or a hairstyle that is so out of style. Oh, ruffles are back in style? *Sigh*

3. There are several different people involved in a wedding, like know-it-all family members and friends who think they know the bride better than you do. Oh, the bride will love that! No, no she will NOT. Who are you again?

4. You may have hooked up with a groomsman or fellow bridesmaid. Awkward.

5. Figure your accommodations on the wedding night, if the wedding is far, or you plan on getting wasted, figure out where you will be staying the night of the wedding because you don't want to end up in the room of number 4 (unless you choose to, haha!).

6. It's exhausting, everything from standing up in uncomfortable heels and posing for a shitload of pictures. Bring flats!

All in all, it is an honor to be a part of this special day in these people's lives. So, just smile and suck it up if you do choose to be apart but also, know that if any of these things make you feel really uncomfortable, you can say no and get a very nice gift for the wedding.

My Circle is Getting Smaller

Hi Fabs,

I love writing about my experiences, that is why I changed the blog to a lifestyle blog a while ago. I love fashion but there's much more I want to share rather than my choices in heels (post to come soon, lol.) Now, onto the topic of this post, my decreasing friend circle.

I am very social individual, as my elementary teachers noted to my parents. "Your daughter is an exceptional student but she talks too much during class." Always. Insert my dad, " What could you  possibly be talking about that is so important during class?" And because I knew better than to answer that loaded question, I would shake my head, look down at my feet and fight back my tears. My chatterbox behavior carried all the way until high school because notes were insufficient to quell my need to talk.

To this day, I am still very social and I make friends easily. However, over the years, I have lost friends as easy as I have gained them. I fully ascribe to the fact that we lose friends every seven years (sometime faster than that) because we change, grow and evolve. People go in different directions in life and have to go there separate ways. Also, I am not the type to keep toxic friendships for the sake of having a lot of friends. Quality over quantity.

I have lost several friends including so-called "best friends." But I always refer to idea that God puts certain people in your life at a certain time, so you can learn from them. And now, as the friends that have been in my life recently are moving into their particular life directions, I have learned that they have come into my life for a reason, even its temporary. So, I am okay with my circle of friends getting smaller because then I know that I have learned the lesson that God wanted me to.

Style Icon: Majorie Harvey

Hi Fabs,

Here's another dose of my style "praise". My latest style icon is Mrs. Marjorie Harvey, the mother of seven exquisite children and the beautiful wife of funny-man Steve Harvey. "God-Momma Marge" as I call her,  has her own blog called "The Lady Loves Couture" and yes, she does love couture. You can always spot her front row at the most fabulous runway shows, but not before she stuns with her Instagram posts.

Not only does Marjorie exude style but she is gorgeous and her body is fabulous. So, if you need a daily dose of this style icon, check out her Instagram, Marjorie_Harvey!

Single Girl's Guide to Valentine's Day

Hi Fabs,

I know, Valentine's Day is here again and we are still without our version of "Chuck Bass." But do not fret, you can still can make the most of V-day.

1. Do not panic! I know, it can be stressful to see the endless Instagram posts but think about it as just a day and it will past like everything else does. Also, believe in timing and the best things come to those who wait.

2. Use Valentine's day as a time to treat yourself. Buy yourself flowers, candy or a nice pair of shoes because you know it's also President's weekend, which means ton of sales.

3. Hang out with people that make you feel loved. Isn't that what V-day is really about...love. So, spend some time with your family or friends.

4. Give a gift to someone special in your life, possibly an elderly neighbor or a coworker.  Giving always is the right thing to do. Kindness is the best policy.

5. Go out on the town with your other single gals. Make sure you dress to impress. You never know,  you might meet your soulmate.

6. Stay in with Netflix, your comfiest PJs and indulge in your favorite treat. (Mine at the moment is popcorn mixed with Resee's pieces. Yum!)

7. Spruce up your online profile, if you are online dating. No better time to get attention.

8. And last but not least, love your self. Make a few "self-love" notes with your favorite quotes and stick them up around your house as a reminder of how awesome you are.

I wish you all a wonderful Valentine's Day! What are your plans for V-day? I'd love to hear!
